A neurosurgeon and partner in the largest neurosurgical group practice in the country, Carolina Neurosurgery and Spine Associates, practicing general adult neurosurgery at the Moses H. Cone Hospital, the flagship hospital of Cone Health in Greensboro, North Carolina Co-director of the Cone Health brain tumor program with specialty interests in brain tumor surgery, stereotactic radiosurgery, spinal surgery (including minimally invasive surgeries, spinal fusions, scoliosis correction), as well as functional neurosurgery (deep brain stimulation for Parkinson’s Disease and tremor). Graduated from the University of Michigan with a B.A. in History in 1984 and stayed on at the University of Michigan for Medical School, graduating in 1989. Internship in General Surgery from 1989-1990, before completing a Residency in Neurological Surgery from 1990-1996, also at the University of Michigan, in Ann Arbor, Michigan. Fellowship in pediatric scoliosis surgery with Dr. Jean Dubousset at the Hospital Saint Vincent de Paul in Paris, France from January – April, 1996 and have been continuously in practice since then.


Graduated from a year-long Physician Leadership Academy, a joint program between Cone Health and the Center for Creative Leadership, in 2014, and from the Physician Leadership Program of the Health Management Academy in 2015. Multi-disciplinary program at Stanford University for the Innovative Health Care Leader put on jointly by the Design, Business and Medical Schools.

Medical Mission with One World Surgery in Honduras, December 2018

We performed free spinal surgeries and saw patients at the Holy Family Surgical Center on the NPH ranch (Nuestros Pequeños Hermanos) in Honduras. This mission was sponsored by One World Surgery, a partnership between NPH and SCA (Surgical Care Affiliates) as well as the NSF (Nuvasive Spine Foundation), which together provided equipment, surgical implants, as well as defraying the costs of travel and some of the expenses of the volunteers.
